Philosophy of Management: The Need
|
In today’s world management is
all-pervasive. Managers and their consultants
include some of the most influential if least
understood agents in modern life. And "management"
is often prescribed as the cure for any
institution perceived to be failing.
Management theorists and scholars acknowledge the
significance of the field. They have claimed that management is the
most important of all human activities, that it is a discipline, a
culture, "the alternative to tyranny and our only protection against
it". But for all this management has lacked the serious and
comprehensive philosophical attention it merits. Until now
there has been no Philosophy of Management.
|
